Job summary

Symbotic is seeking interns and co-ops in Summer 2027 to work on real-time software for fleets of mobile robots. You will brainstorm with engineers, contribute to data-structure-driven design, and help simulate and improve localization and path planning algorithms.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, robotics, or related field.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and RabbitMQ.
• Proficiency in Linux, C++, Python, MATLAB.
• Knowledge of Git, Jira, and Confluence.
• Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD tools like GitHub, Docker or Jenkins.
• Experience with OpenCV, PCL, ROS, Boost, and Eigen.
• Hands-on with Arduino/STM32/ESP32 or Raspberry Pi; sensor/motor integration.
• Preferred experience with path planning or motion control.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures and algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Brainstorm with engineers on cross-functional teams to develop real-time software for robot fleets.
• Apply data structures and algorithms to optimize performance.
• Produce high-quality software contributing to impactful projects.
• Simulate robot behavior using internal tools during development.
• Develop localization and path planning algorithms for mobile robots.
• Coordinate sensor integration across teams for localization improvements.
• Support system testing of subsystems and manufacturing as needed.
• Investigate system issues and evaluate engineering change requests.
