Job summary

Symbotic offers summer internship and co-op opportunities in Hardware Engineering, inviting students to design, prototype and test robotic components. You will work with CAD tools, PCB and drive test plans, gaining hands-on experience with PLCs and multi-axis robotics systems.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Familiarity with tests for integrated hardware-software systems, preferably robotics or automation.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems incl robotics, vision, safety-critical systems, multi-axis sensors, localization, actuators, and control algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Assist hardware engineering teams with designing, prototyping, and testing of robotic components.
• Design parts for manufacturing processes using CAD tools.
• Assemble electromechanical assemblies and fixtures with hand tools and measurement equipment.
• Debug mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems in robotics hardware.
• Develop robot motion scripts (Python) for single-axis and multi-axis behaviors for tests.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Contribute to PLC hardware/software design and implementation.
• Support reliability test plans to identify failure modes early in development.
