Job summary

Amazon Robotics in Seattle is seeking a Software Engineer to accelerate a small team working on reinforcement learning for manipulation and real-time execution on hardware. You will build tooling, pipelines, and systems to scale experiments across robot platforms and collaborate with scientists to run learned policies with low latency.

The role requires strong software development experience, familiarity with backend systems, and the ability to work with cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 3+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
• Experience working effectively with science, data processing, and software engineering teams
• Experience building and operating scalable backend systems, services, or data pipelines

Responsibilities

• Build the tooling and automation the team needs to run and scale experiments, automate evaluation, and move data where it needs to go.
• Partner with scientists to get learned policies running in real time on robot hardware, and help close performance and latency gaps.
• Identify and remove recurring engineering bottlenecks that slow the team down.
• Write production-quality code and build systems the team can rely on and reuse.
• Partner with teams across simulation, control, hardware, and infrastructure to scale reliably and quickly.
