Job summary

Amazon Robotics in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer to accelerate a small team advancing reinforcement learning for manipulation. You will drive the software path from a trained policy to reliable execution on real robots, and build the tooling and automation that help the team run and scale experiments.

You will create new tools and pipelines while leveraging existing work to move fast and scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 3+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
• Experience working effectively with science, data processing, and software engineering teams
• Experience building and operating scalable backend systems, services, or data pipelines

Responsibilities

• Build the tooling and automation the team needs to run and scale experiments, automate evaluation, and move data where it needs to go.
• Partner with scientists to get learned policies running in real time on robot hardware, and help close performance and latency gaps.
• Identify and remove the recurring engineering bottlenecks that slow the team down.
• Write production-quality code and build systems the team can rely on and reuse.
• Partner with teams across simulation, control, hardware, and infrastructure to scale reliably and quickly.
