Job summary

AeroVironment Software Engineer role focuses on building software to control advanced robotic platforms. You will design, implement, and integrate C++/Kotlin systems, and develop cross‑platform apps for Android, Linux, and Windows to support vision, autonomy and mission modules.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in a technical field with 5+ years of experience, strong C++ skills, networking knowledge, and the ability to work across teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong fluency in modern C++, maintainable software architecture and modular system design.
• Experience evaluating design tradeoffs and translating to system requirements.
• Hands-on knowledge of CMake or similar build systems.
• Experience with mechatronic or hardware-integrated software.
• Knowledge of networking topologies and protocols.
• Self-directed, owns work, and communicates well with customers.
• Willingness to travel locally occasionally.
• Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Software development supporting vision-based navigation, autonomy, and mission systems.
• Design, implement, and integrate systems in C++ and Kotlin.
• Develop cross-platform apps for Android, Linux, and Windows to control robotics.
• Design SDK interfaces for internal and external integration.
• Field test hands-on with robots to validate features.
• Deliver work on time per project schedules and budgets.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and share knowledge.
• Collaborate with multiple software teams to reuse code.
