Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh seeks a Full-Time Lead Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room. You will supervise a team, assist surgeons, and ensure aseptic technique across procedures at the McCandless location. Salary will be determined by experience, with a strong focus on patient safety and cost containment.

You must have a formal surgical tech program completion, CST or TSC, and 4+ years OR experience, plus BLS/CPR and clearances. On-site role with varied shifts and on-call expectations.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal surgical technician program.
• Minimum of 4 years OR experience.
• Advanced knowledge of at least 3 surgical specialties.
• Solid/Strong/Good or higher on last performance evaluation.
• CST or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC).
• BLS or CPR within 30 days of hire.
• Act 31/33/34 with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day surgical technicians and lead daily shifts.
• Teach skills and theory to new employees and students.
• Assist in supervising supplies and equipment for patient care and safety.
• Ensure medications are labeled and handed to surgeons per policy.
• Assist in case scheduling and prepare the operating room for procedures.
• Maintain aseptic technique and a safe environment in the OR.
• Pass instruments during surgery and support the surgical team.
• Precept students and new staff and participate in peer review.
