Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technologist Lead to deliver safe perioperative care under supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, RN, and/or Physician. The role ensures case cart completeness, supplies, and collaboration with Sterile Processing and ISC.

The position requires BCLS, SCT certification, 2+ years experience, and ability to manage trays, implants, and equipment while supporting patient safety and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• Surgical Technologist (Required)
• Surgical Technologist Certification by entity holding a Nationally recognized Institutional or program accreditation or successfully completed training program in US ARMY, Navy or Air Force and/or 15+ years' experience in lieu of certification. An individual may be hired and work as a Surgical Technologist without certification for a period of six months. The individual must provide documentation of successful completion of an approved surgical technology program.

Responsibilities

• Supports patient rights and upholds the ethics of the organization.
• Participates in clinical care as necessary.
• Participates in the assessment of patient care by recognizing and reporting signs of intraoperative complications and emergencies to surgical team.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver safe and accurate care to patients throughout the perioperative experience under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or physician.
• Is proactive to assure all required items (implants, supplies, equipment and personnel) are in place prior to the scheduled operative case.
