Job summary

ABB Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer - Paint Application to support system integration, RC/upgrade projects, and customer training at our Auburn Hills, MI site. You will design and optimize paint cells, manage RFQs, and travel domestically and internationally to install and support projects.

Requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 5+ years in robotics paint applications, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience in robotics paint applications or similar.
Experience with automotive paint applications across substrates and automated electrostatic spray equipment.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks for cell layout and tooling.
Ability to manage scopes of work, RFQs, and customer communications under pressure.

Responsibilities

Provide system integration support for ABB robots in paint applications and upgrades.
Deliver paint-robot training and application guidance to customers.
Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams under pressure to maintain relationships.
Travel 20–30% domestically and internationally to support installations.
Design robotics paint cells, optimize cycle times, and specify robot paths and atomizers.
