Job summary

Automation Solutions is seeking a mechanically adept Fabricator/Technician to weld, fabricate, and assemble custom automated equipment and robotic systems at our Birmingham facility, with travel to customer sites as needed. You will read blueprints, perform precision machining, and support startup and field service.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical training in Welding, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
• At least two years of hands-on experience in mechanical fabrication, welding, equipment assembly, or industrial maintenance.
• Experience performing MIG and TIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel.
• Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Welding and mechanical fabrication of parts per drawings and project requirements.
• Mechanical assembly of custom automated equipment, robotic systems, and guarding.
• Machining and component modification using manual tools and precision measurement.
• Prototype and engineering support alongside engineers and technicians.
• Equipment installation and field support at Automation Solutions customer sites (~15% travel).
• Troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems to ensure uptime.
