Job summary

Standard Bots is hiring two Mechanical Engineers to join the Bolt team in Boston, designing and building automated robotic systems. You will design parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, build and test prototypes, and perform quick engineering analyses on real robots.

You will collaborate with EE, software, and test teams, maintain accurate drawings and BOMs, and learn the product deeply through hands-on work in a fast-moving environment. On-site with relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 0–3 years of hands-on hardware experience (internships and project teams count).
• Experience with SolidWorks, sheet metal, machined parts, and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Design parts and assemblies in SolidWorks — sheet metal, machined parts, 3D prints, and off-the-shelf hardware.
• Build and test prototypes: order parts, assemble, instrument, run tests, and document results.
• Do first-pass engineering analysis (loads, stress, deflection, fastener sizing) and know when to ask for a deeper look.
• Support cross-functional builds with EE, software, and test — fixtures, mounts, cable routing, quick fixes on the floor.
• Keep BOMs, drawings, and PDM records accurate through fast design iterations.
• Learn the product deeply: assemble robots, tear them down, and find out what breaks.
