Job summary

Edison Smart® in Austin, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical designs from concept through build and testing for rugged robots deployed in demanding outdoor environments.

You will run structural FEA and thermal analyses, apply GD&T and tolerance analysis, and collaborate with electrical and software teams on electromechanical integration, prototyping, field tests, and scalable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Own mechanical designs from concept to working hardware.
• Experience with structural FEA and thermal analysis.
• Strong GD&T and tolerance analysis knowledge.
• Experience with rugged/mobile hardware: robotics or similar.
• Hands-on building and testing in a startup environment.
• US citizen or green card holder; no sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of mechanical subsystems end to end in SolidWorks.
• Run structural FEA, thermal, and tolerance analyses for your designs.
• Make and justify material and design decisions for rugged hardware.
• Prototype, build and test hardware, including field testing.
• Collaborate with electrical and software engineers on electromechanical integration.
• Design for manufacture as the product scales.
