Job summary

MISO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to deploy Flippy robotic kitchen assistants, focusing on hardware deployment, user experience, and seamless integration into live restaurant environments. You will collaborate with product, engineering, operations and sales across the full development lifecycle, delivering robust designs, test protocols, and clear documentation for field use.

The role requires 4–7 years in mechanical design for deployed robotics, CAD proficiency (SolidWorks / OnShape), PLM

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4–7 years of relevant robotics experience.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and deploying mechanical systems or robots.
• Proficiency with CAD, modeling, assemblies and drawings; SolidWorks or OnShape preferred.
• Experience using PLM systems and change management processes.
• Ability to perform machine design analysis with hand calculations and FEA.
• Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) is preferred.
• Experience with machining, sheet metal, laser cutting, welding; 3D printing for prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Define hardware requirements and perform system-level design trades for Flippy deployment.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, systems, and testing teams to optimize designs for deployment.
• Contribute to full development of robot subsystems (mechanical, electronic, software) for deployment.
• Participate in cross-functional design reviews and incorporate field feedback.
• Design, prototype, and build mechanical/electro-mechanical modules for deployment.
• Develop designs in CAD and CAE tools; create CAD models and drawings.
• Validate manufacturing, assembly, and service feasibility; apply DFM concepts.
• Manage ECOs, part numbers, revisions; coordinate with Arena PLM and supply chain.
• Aid in establishing scalable manufacturing and deployment paths.
• Provide pre- and post-installation technical support (remote).
