Job summary

Apptronik in Austin, TX, is seeking an Engineering Manager - Controls to lead a team of software engineers working on real-time control software for our humanoid robots.

You will hire, mentor, and align delivery with the Controls roadmap, ensure code quality through reviews and tests, and collaborate with firmware, embedded software, learning, teleoperation, and test teams to bring new capabilities from simulation to the fleet.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Robotics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 4+ years of robotics controls or software experience; 2+ years as a technical lead if PhD.

Responsibilities

• Oversee real-time control software framework for the robot, including drivers and state estimation.
• Plan and drive team deliverables within the Controls roadmap; break goals into work and track milestones.
• Hire, mentor, and grow a team of controls and software engineers; set priorities and ownership.
• Maintain high code quality through design reviews, code reviews, and automated tests; own release processes.
• Collaborate with firmware, embedded software, learning, teleoperation, systems, and test teams to align interfaces and schedules.
