Job summary

Apptronik in Austin, TX, seeks an Engineering Manager - Controls to lead a team of software engineers responsible for the real-time control software that runs our humanoid robots. You will hire, mentor, and guide delivery across the Controls roadmap.

You will stay close to code, review designs, and collaborate with firmware, embedded software, learning, teleoperation, and test teams to bring new capabilities from simulation to the fleet, ensuring reliability and scalable deployment.

Qualifications

• Solid background in robot kinematics, dynamics, and control.
• Experience building real-time robotic software in C++, with multi-threading.
• Proven track record deploying control software from simulation to hardware.
• Experience leading engineers, hiring and mentoring.
• Ability to plan and deliver software in fast-moving R&D environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development of the real-time control framework for the robot fleet.
• Plan and drive the team's deliverables with milestone tracking and risk signaling.
• Hire, manage, and mentor controls/software engineers and tech leads.
• Maintain code quality through design reviews and automated testing.
• Collaborate with firmware, embedded, learning, teleoperation, and test teams.
