Job summary

IYRS School of Technology & Trades in Newport, RI seeks an experienced Technical Programs Instructor to lead and deliver targeted workforce development programs within the Digital Modeling & Fabrication (DMF) group. This role develops and delivers CAD/CAM instruction across multiple IYRS programs, and serves as a technical resource for students, faculty, and industry partners.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in education, training, or hands-on work with 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and robotics/automation.
  • Proficiency in robotics with preference for FANUC systems.
  • Proficiency in Rhino, SolidWorks, and MasterCAM.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM workflows and CNC operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver targeted workforce development training with industry partners.
  • Support DMF curriculum design, including lectures, demos, and hands-on instruction.
  • Collaborate with DMF Lead Instructor and advisory committee to enhance course content and teaching methods.
  • Coordinate with adjunct faculty and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Deliver industry certifications (e.g., SolidWorks, MasterCAM, Rhino).
  • Oversee CNC Router operations for DMF and related programs.
  • Maintain and manage DMF tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ensure safety standards and lab functionality.
