Job summary

IYRS School of Technology & Trades in Newport, RI is seeking an experienced Technical Programs Instructor to lead workforce development in the Digital Modeling & Fabrication group. The role focuses on robotics and advanced manufacturing, delivering CAD/CAM instruction and serving as a technical resource for students, faculty, and industry partners.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and robotics (FANUC preferred) and will help design

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in education, training, or hands-on work with 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and robotics/automation.
Proficiency in robotics with preference for FANUC systems.
Proficiency in Rhino, SolidWorks, and MasterCAM.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proficiency with CAD/CAM workflows and CNC operations.
Ability to meet the physical demands of a shop/lab environment.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Canvas) and distance learning tools.

Responsibilities

Deliver targeted workforce development training with industry partners.
Support the design and delivery of the DMF curriculum, including lectures, demos, and one-on-one instruction.
Collaborate with the DMF Lead Instructor and the DMF Professional Advisory Committee to evaluate and enhance course content and teaching methods.
Coordinate with adjunct faculty and assess student learning outcomes.
Deliver industry certifications (e.g., SolidWorks, MasterCAM, Rhino).
Deliver introductory CAD/CAM modules for other programs (Composites Technology, Boatbuilding & Restoration).
Oversee CNC Router operations for DMF and Composites Technology.
Maintain and manage all DMF tools, equipment, and materials.
Ensure the lab meets industry standards for safety, cleanliness, and functionality.
Monitor inventory and ensure timely procurement of supplies.
Participate in safety training and enforce safety protocols.
Support students in securing externships and employment opportunities.
Participate in key school events such as Launch Day, Graduation, the Annual Gala, and open houses (some evenings/weekends required).
