Job summary

AEVEX Corp’s Navigation and Autonomy Center is seeking a highly motivated engineering student for a co-op focused on robotics and autonomous navigation. You will apply algorithms, machine learning, and sensor fusion on embedded hardware to advance UAS autonomy in GPS-degraded environments.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, participate in flight tests, and contribute to real-world projects using C++, Python, and Rust.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergrad/grad program in CS/EE/Aerospace or related field.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python required.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 and sensor fusion is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement CV-based localization, SLAM, or deep learning models for real-time navigation of UAS.
• Assist in integrating data from cameras, IMUs, GNSS, and other PNT sources for sensor fusion.
• Optimize and deploy navigation/autonomy algorithms for embedded systems and robotics platforms.
• Perform simulation and validation of navigation algorithms using Python, C++, or Rust.
• Participate in flight test campaigns to validate software and algorithms on UAS.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on research and prototyping efforts.
