Job summary

Daimler Truck North America invites motivated engineering students or recent graduates to join our internship program in Gastonia, NC. You will work with automation and engineering teams in a high-volume manufacturing setting, focusing on robotics, machine integration, and shopfloor systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning and continuous improvement. You will assist with maintaining automated equipment, develop documentation, and help drive data-driven insights to improve equipment

Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or have recently graduated within 1 year of start date.
• Degree fields listed include Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or related field with interest in industrial systems.
• Basic understanding of automation concepts like robotics, PLCs, and control systems.
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments and automated equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical systems and think logically.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and standard engineering documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of automated equipment including robots, fabrication machines, and material handling systems.
• Assist with continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, and productivity enhancements.
• Help develop and maintain documentation for automation systems, including system architecture, standards, and procedures.
• Support data collection and visualization efforts to improve visibility into equipment performance and production metrics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and drive improvements.
• Contribute to fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
