Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Gastonia, NC offers a paid summer internship within the Automation and Engineering team. The role focuses on robotics, machine integration, and shopfloor systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Interns will troubleshoot, support continuous improvement projects, and help drive data visibility and operational efficiency. The program starts in May/June and may lead to a full-time opportunity based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
Basic understanding of industrial automation concepts such as robotics, PLCs, and control systems.
Familiarity with manufacturing environments and automated equipment.
Strong problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and standard engineering documentation practices.

Responsibilities

Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of automated equipment including robots and fabrication machines.
Assist with implementing continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality and productivity.
Help develop and maintain documentation for automation systems, including system architecture, standards, and procedures.
Support data collection and visualization efforts to improve visibility into equipment performance and production metrics.
Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering to resolve technical issues and drive improvements.
Promote an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
