Job summary

Daimler Truck North America offers a Summer intern position in Mount Holly, NC, focused on Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational analytics. Interns will work with experienced teams to analyze performance, apply Kaizen, and learn project management in a manufacturing setting.

Students will gain hands-on exposure to Lean tools and cross-functional collaboration, with opportunities for development of leadership and problem-solving skills in a global organization.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or higher or have graduated within 1 year of start date.
• Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline.
• Interest in manufacturing operations, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity across manufacturing operations.
• Assist with collecting, analyzing, and reporting operational performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing activities, including Kaizen events, 5S, value stream mapping, and process improvement workshops.
• Support Lean tools such as Visual Factory Management, Takt Time analysis, setup reduction, and flow production concepts.
• Assist teams in developing metrics, tracking progress, and measuring impact of continuous improvement efforts.
• Identify and document opportunities to eliminate waste and improve operational efficiency.
• Contribute to development of standard work, best practices, and process documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success.
