Job summary

Ottenweller Company, Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking an experienced Welder/Robot Programmer to operate and program robotic welders on a production line. You will set up fixtures, load parts, and weld to blueprints, ensuring first‑piece approval and consistent quality.

This full‑time role requires high school/GED, 3–5 years welding and some robotic programming. You will train operators, perform routine maintenance, and work in a loud shop environment with safety and accuracy as priorities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years welding experience and/or training; basic blueprint proficiency required.
  • Previous robotic programming experience preferred; or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Programs robotic welders by controlling robot torch movements and welding sequences.
  • Tests programmed welds for point quality and part clearance.
  • Collaborates with Engineering and other operators on fixtures and robot capabilities.
  • Sets up jobs by loading fixtures and components, selecting master jobs, and securing items.”
  • Operates robot welders and performs manual production welding.
  • Performs first-piece and in-process inspections per blueprint; maintains documentation.
  • Trains robot operators in basic operation and setup.
  • Performs routine maintenance on robots and logs the work.
  • Cleans parts with grinders and scrapers; MIG welds as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
