Position Overview

A precision manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Robotic Welder to operate and troubleshoot automated welding cells. The position requires experience with robotic welding equipment, teach-pendant operation, MIG/GMAW processes, technical drawings, fixtures, weld-quality inspection, and common equipment faults. Experience manufacturing regulated or highly engineered products is preferred.

• Set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and provide routine support for robotic welding cells.


• Use Fanuc teach pendants to operate robotic systems and perform basic programming or program-editing functions.


• Assist with optimizing robotic weld paths, welding parameters, cycle times, and process repeatability.


• Operate and support automated welding equipment, including Fronius and Miller systems.


• Load and position components correctly within fixtures before beginning the welding cycle.


• Verify part fit-up, fixture alignment, torch position, and welding setup.


• Read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and detailed work instructions.


• Complete in-process inspections to verify weld placement, appearance, dimensional accuracy, and overall quality.


• Recognize and respond to common weld defects, including porosity, incomplete fusion, undercut, distortion, and inconsistent bead appearance.


• Troubleshoot robot faults, torch-alignment issues, wire-feed interruptions, incorrect welding parameters, and other equipment problems.


• Make approved adjustments that minimize downtime while maintaining product quality.


• Support new-product introduction initiatives, including fixture validation, trial runs, process development, and robotic weld-path optimization.


• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production personnel to investigate and resolve technical issues.


• Accurately follow routers, work instructions, inspection requirements, and production documentation.


• Maintain a clean and organized work area while complying with safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.


• At least three years of experience in robotic welding, automated manufacturing, or a related production environment.


• Hands-on familiarity with Fanuc robotic systems.


• Experience using a teach pendant to operate equipment, adjust positions, or support basic program changes.


• Working knowledge of MIG/GMAW welding processes.


• Understanding of welding parameters, joint fit-up, fixturing, weld sequencing, and distortion control.


• Ability to read technical drawings, manufacturing specifications, and weld symbols.


• Experience working with aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, or comparable production materials.


• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.


• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain attention to detail in a quality-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical-school or trade-school training in welding, robotics, automation, or manufacturing technology.


• Experience using Fronius or Miller welding equipment.


• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or another tightly regulated manufacturing environment.


• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.


• Experience supporting new-product launches or automated-process development.


• AWS welding certification.


• Fanuc robotics training or certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for more than 10 hours during a scheduled shift.


• Ability to lift, carry, and reposition materials weighing up to 50 pounds.


• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive production tasks.


• Manual dexterity sufficient to handle parts, tools, fixtures, and welding equipment.


• Visual acuity necessary to inspect weld quality and interpret technical drawings.


• Ability to wear all required PPE, including a welding hood, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
