Scalence seeks a Hardware Automation & Robotic Testbed Support Engineer to join our San Jose lab. You'll maintain automated test stations, calibrate hardware, run Python-based test sweeps, and aid software engineers with test harness integration.

Ideal candidates have hands-on hardware experience, basic Python, and familiarity with Linux and Git. This contractor role emphasizes bridging hardware with software in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 1 year of hands-on experience with electro-mechanical hardware, robotics, or hardware test fixtures.
• Practical troubleshooting with hand tools, multimeters, wire crimpers, soldering, and bench test equipment.
• Basic-to-intermediate Python proficiency (reading scripts, modifying parameters, running commands, handling logs).
• Working knowledge of Linux command line and Git source control operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and calibrate hardware test stations, fixtures, and audio interfaces.
• Run automated Python test sweeps and log telemetry from wearable test units.
• Triage issues by diagnosing hardware, firmware, or script problems and gather logs.
• Ensure clean acoustic metrics and recordings are uploaded to test repositories.
• Update Python test scripts and configs; manage Linux host environments and permissions.
• Collaborate with SWEs and researchers to prepare benches for new test suites.
