Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant First Assist to join our Robotic Surgery team in Largo, Maryland. This full-time role offers hands-on surgical exposure, mentoring responsibilities, and opportunities to advance the First Assist program within the perioperative team.

You will work closely with surgeons, the anesthesia and nursing teams, and other APPs to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes through every phase of the surgical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Physicians.
• At least one year of First Assist or General Surgery experience preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide first assist during robotic and other surgical procedures.
• Assist with dissection, ligation, stapling, suturing and wound closure.
• Support hemostasis and operative efficiency.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing and anesthesia teams perioperatively.
• Mentor and educate other APPs and First Assists.
• Contribute to onboarding and ongoing education of the team.
