Job summary

Applied Intuition in Sunnyvale, CA is hiring a Robot Infrastructure Engineer focused on collection tooling to streamline high-quality robot demonstrations and human corrections. You will build teleoperation workflows, quality checks, and ingestion tools to make a session at the robot trustworthy for training data, while keeping a clear boundary between policy actions and human corrections.

This is a tooling role, not a large-scale collection operation.

Qualifications

• Built data collection, teleoperation, sensor recording, or human-in-the-loop tooling used on real robots or autonomous systems, and validated it on hardware.
• Strong Python skills and software engineering fundamentals, including APIs, tests, versioned schemas, and debugging data pipelines.
• Experience with synchronized video, robot state, actions, or other multimodal time-series data.
• Knowledge of coordinate frames, sensor calibration, data provenance, and how collection errors show up in trained models.
• Experience building tools for others and simplifying data-quality problems without masking issues.
• Ability to translate a task description into an executable collection workflow with hardware and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Build teleoperation and operator tools for leader arms, VR, and other interfaces, including calibration and latency handling.
• Implement episode workflows for instructions, starts/stops, resets, annotations, and human takeover.
• Create collection quality checks for frame drops, timestamp alignment, missing signals, and calibration validity.
• Develop collection specifications and adapters that validate data from external partners against task requirements.
• Maintain raw recordings as ground truth and ensure reproducible export to training formats.
• Show collection progress and coverage against tasks to focus on missing variations and edge cases.
• Document setup and troubleshooting so engineers can run collection without you in the room.
