Job summary

Applied Intuition is seeking a Robot Infrastructure Engineer focused on collection tooling to simplify capturing high-quality demonstrations and human corrections. You will build teleoperation workflows, quality checks, and ingestion tools turning robot sessions into trusted training data.

We value hands-on work with real systems, hardware validation, and the ability to collaborate with learning, hardware, and operations teams to deliver robust collection tooling.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with APIs, tests, versioned schemas, and debugging data pipelines.
• Familiarity with synchronized video, robot state, actions, or other multimodal time-series data.
• Knowledge of coordinate frames, sensor calibration, data provenance, and how collection errors affect models.
• Experience building tools for others and simplifying data-quality challenges.
• Ability to translate a task description into an executable collection workflow with hardware and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Build teleoperation and operator tools for leader arms, VR, and other interfaces, including calibration, action mapping, latency, and reliable recording.
• Implement episode workflows for task instructions, start/stop, resets, annotations, success labels, and human takeover while keeping a clean boundary between policies and human corrections.
• Build collection quality checks for frame drops, timestamp alignment, missing signals, calibration validity, and incomplete episodes with actionable feedback.
• Build collection specifications and adapters that validate data from external partners against task requirements, schemas, calibration, and provenance.
• Keep raw recordings as the source of truth and ensure reproducible normalization and export to training formats.
• Show collection progress and coverage against tasks to target missing variations and hard cases.
• Test everything on real robots and document setup/troubleshooting so others can run collection without you present.
