Job summary

Kokosing is seeking a Roadway Superintendent to oversee earthwork and highway construction projects in the Norfolk, VA region. You will supervise skilled trade crews, coordinate with the Project Engineer and Project Manager, and drive safety, production, and profitability on large roadway initiatives.

The role requires extensive field management experience in heavy highway work, strong leadership and scheduling skills, and a focus on safety and compliance with policy.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of field management experience in heavy highway/roadway construction.
• Progression from journeyman through foreman to superintendent preferred.
• Strong safety knowledge and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage 3+ foremen on safe, productive, quality-focused work.
• Set a Safety 24/7 culture for crews.
• Assist the Project Manager in creating the project schedule.
• Develop 90-day and 3-week schedules for crews.
• Conduct pre-planning and goal setting with crews.
• Oversee costs associated with work items and budgets.
• Coordinate manpower, heavy equipment, tooling and material needs for crews.
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors.
