Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Roadway Project Manager to support transportation design projects in the Mid-Atlantic region, based in Washington DC or Springfield, VA.

The role oversees roadway design projects and staff, requiring a Civil Engineering degree and a DC PE license. The successful candidate will coordinate plans, manage schedules, and prepare contractual documents, client communications, and bid/submittal activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Ten years of relevant industry experience minimum.
• Five+ years of progressive responsibility within the industry.
• DDOT roadway design experience is preferred; experience with VDOT/MD SHA is a plus.
• DC PE is required for this role.
• Experience with DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide plan review and project management for Mid-Atlantic clients.
• Organize activities, schedules and reporting for assigned projects.
• Prepare, issue and track project documentation (contracts, change orders, client sign-off).
• Prepare correspondence with clients, vendors and regulatory agencies.
• Assist with invoices, purchase orders and external communications.
• Prepare/edit meeting minutes and presentations.
• Support project submittals and bidding activities.
• Provide technical and administrative support to the project team.
• Market new and existing clients and interact with the public regarding project plans.
• Lead or assist in development of project designs and guiding designers to execution.
• Participate in business development meetings with clients and teams.
