THE POSITION

The Westmoreland County Maintenance office of the Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is actively seeking a Roadway Programs Technician 1 to enhance their team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will undertake a variety of technical responsibilities aimed at supporting the evaluation, analysis, and enhancement of maintenance operations in alignment with the strategic goals set by management, as well as adhering to departmental policies and procedures within Westmoreland County. Your role will involve overseeing and managing the processes related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of automotive repair parts, personal protective equipment, and other essential items to personnel working in the field, garage, and office settings. This includes ensuring that inventory levels are maintained, that items are properly cataloged, and that all transactions are conducted efficiently to support the operational needs of the department.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Technical Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
  • An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
