Professional Engineer Responsibilities

1. Perform engineering analysis, design, and plan production for transportation engineering projects, including roadways, drainage, erosion control, and traffic control.
2. Create job specifications and contract documents for bidding purposes.
3. Calculate quantities and provide construction cost estimates.
4. Use experience and skills to deliver projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
5. Lead project team in quality control processes.

Education, Licensing, Certification, and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
2. Professional Engineer certification required.
3. At least 8 years of experience in transportation design.

Required Skills / Abilities

1. Knowledge of MicroStation Open Roads and/or AutoDesk Civil 3D.
2. Working knowledge of design standards, including AASHTO, MUTCD, and APWA.
3. Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
4. Proven leadership skills.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate at all organizational levels.
8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
