Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician to assist with encroachment permit coordination in Florence County and to oversee contract management for maintenance activities including guardrail repair, mowing, chip seal, resurfacing, and related works.

You will support planning and monitoring of integrated roadside vegetation programs, assist in preparing vegetation contracts with specifications and inspections, review permit applications, and coordinate

Qualifications

A high school diploma and three (3) years of progressively responsible engineering technician related experience.
Certification may substitute for six (6) months of related experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with encroachment permit processes and coordinate contract management of maintenance activities.
Support planning and monitoring roadside vegetation management programs.
Assist in preparing vegetation management contracts, including specs and inspections.
Review encroachment permit applications for compliance with standards.
Meet with engineers and developers to resolve encroachment permit matters.
Ensure work aligns with SCDOT plans and specifications.
Assist with emergency and inclement weather operations, including extended hours or shifts.
