Job summary

The City of Midland, Texas is hiring an Equipment Operator I to perform manual labor and operate light and heavy vehicles to install and maintain roadway markings and signage. This entry-level role supports Traffic Operations and requires basic safety practices, a GED or high school diploma, and at least 6 months of experience.

You will conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, perform routine maintenance, keep records, and help with traffic control and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• 6 months of related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle/equipment inspections.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance of motorized equipment or hand tools.
• Inspect safety of various job projects and maintain safe operation of heavy equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good and safe condition.
• Keep jobsite and vehicles/equipment neat and in order.
• Maintain records of work performed and work orders.
• Paint lane lines and designated curbs; install/maintain roadway markings.
• Assist with setup of work zone traffic control and on-call duties.
