Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) in Torrington, Wyoming seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician to perform a variety of road maintenance duties under limited supervision, ensuring a safe and efficient transportation system.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant work experience (highway maintenance/construction).
• Must have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Associate's Degree (Engineering) preferred.
• 0-1 year of relevant work experience (highway maintenance/construction).

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates complex equipment safely.
• Trains incumbents in the operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Under limited supervision, flags traffic and sets up traffic control devices.
• Operates single-tandem-axle trucks with striper, auger, aerial lift equipment, plows, wing plow, sander, and chemical systems to remove snow and ice from the roadway surface.
• Rehabilitates roadway surfaces and traffic control devices such as signs and highway striping.
• Maintains rest area facilities including water and wastewater treatment.
• Attends required training to obtain/maintain certifications and learn new skills.
• Communicates information to update others on work status and process effectiveness.
• Utilizes special computerized equipment.
• Performs duties involved in removing snow and ice from roadways.
• Adheres to safety standards and PPE procedures.
