Job summary

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) seeks a Highway Maintenance Technician for the Maintenance Program in Afton, Wyoming. This role performs roadway maintenance tasks under limited supervision to keep Wyoming’s transportation system safe and reliable for the traveling public.

Applicants should have 2–4 years in highway maintenance, an Associate’s in engineering or related field, and must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months. Competitive benefits and a hiring bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant work experience in highway maintenance or construction.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within twelve months of hire.
• Associate's Degree (Engineering) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates complex equipment safely and proficiently.
• Flags traffic and sets up traffic control devices under limited supervision.
• Operates heavy equipment (trucks with augers, aerial lifts, plows).
• Rehabilitates road surfaces and traffic control devices as needed.
• Performs maintenance of highway facilities and may manage water/wastewater tasks.
• Completes required state/federal trainings and certifications.
