Job summary

Utah Department of Transportation in Murray, Utah, is seeking a Transportation Technician I/II to join the maintenance team. You will perform routine upkeep on highways, operate heavy equipment, and support UDOT projects at the Murray Maintenance Station.

The role provides opportunities for progression via UDOT’s Transportation Education Program (TEP). A CDL is required within 6 months, with training provided, and you must lift at least 50 lbs and pass background and drug tests.

Qualifications

• CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire (UDOT provides paid training and testing).
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Willingness to pass background check and drug testing as part of pre-employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on state routes, highways, and drainage features to sustain infrastructure longevity.
• Operate heavy machinery, including snowplows, salt spreaders, and blowers, during winter conditions.
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, and graders.
• Utilize department software to track assets and document work performed by UDOT crews and contractors.
• Manage roadside vegetation using various methods, including herbicide applications.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and perform physically demanding tasks.
