Job summary

The Arizona Department of Transportation is hiring a Highway Operations Worker in Tucson to support a safe, efficient transportation system. This position offers a $4,000 hiring incentive with salary range $37,838–$50,848 annually and an anticipated hourly range of $18.19–$24.45.

Closing date is Oct 18, 2026. Positions require a valid driver’s license and, within set timeframes, an Arizona CDL (Class A) permit and license.

Qualifications

• 6 months of Roadway/Highway experience for Worker (as required by area).
• 1 year of Roadway/Highway experience for Tech 1 classification.
• 2 years for Tech 2; 3 years for Tech 3.
• Arizona CDL (Class A) permit within 90 days; Class A license within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized vehicles and equipment; pavement care and preservation.
• Landscape care and preservation; roadside shoulder restoration and repairs.
• Scheduling, assigning, and overseeing subordinates; inspecting and training staff.
