Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Passing the CDL written exam is required before hire; tanker endorsement and interstate status within 60 days after hire.
• Successful completion of a work simulation and medical-physical exam.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state highway systems: fill joints/cracks, patch potholes, traffic flagging, and set up signs, cones, and arrow boards.
• Repair, clean, and replace road signs and guardrails; clean curbs, gutters, and paint buildings/equipment.
• Operate vehicles to transport personnel, equipment, and materials; plow snow and spread ice control materials; mow right of way.
• May repair bridge decks and drains; install/open signs; pour concrete sign footings; weld/cut steel posts.
• Respond to emergencies and possibly work overtime or at night as needed.
