Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Passing grade on the written portion of the CDL exam required prior to hire date.
• Must pass driving portion of the CDL exam with tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions (Class B), and interstate status within 60 days after hire into this position.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Maintains state highway systems, including filling roadway joints and cracks, potholes, flagging, traffic control devices, and debris removal.
• Maintains, cleans, and repairs state highway facilities, including signs, guardrails, curbs, gutters, and machine servicing.
• Operates vehicles to transport employees, equipment, and materials, warn traffic, plow snow, and spread ice control materials; handles various trucks and machinery.
• May repair bridge decks and drains; clean bridge bents/caps at heights using ladders or scaffolding.
• May install signs, inspect signs, pour concrete sign footings, weld/cut posts, and repair break away signs.
