Job summary

Arkansas Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Worker to operate trucks and mowing equipment and perform highway maintenance tasks. The role requires ability to read, write, and communicate in English, with preferred experience operating heavy equipment and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities include mowing, landscape work, equipment operation, material handling, traffic flagging, and assisting with work zones and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English to converse with the public and understand highway signs.
• Experience operating a truck, tractor or heavy equipment preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Mow grass with large tractors and gang mowers.
• Perform landscape maintenance and tree cutting along highway right-of-ways and facilities.
• Operate single-axle dump truck for construction or maintenance materials.
• Use power tools and small hand tools for highway repairs.
• Load, unload and stack bags of salt, sand, cement, chemicals, etc.
• Flag traffic and assist with signs and cones in work zones.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with snow removal operations.
• Perform regular servicing of assigned equipment.
