Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public and understand reports.
• Ability to learn to operate a single-axle truck, tractor and heavy equipment.
• Basic math and computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Mow grass and weeds using tractors and gang mowers.
• Perform landscape maintenance and tree cutting on highways and facilities.
• Operate single-axle dump trucks for highway construction/maintenance materials.
• Use power tools and hand tools for highway repairs.
• Load, unload and stack bags of salt, sand, cement and chemicals.
• Flag traffic and assist with setting up signs and cones for work zones.
• Respond to emergencies 24/7 and participate in ice/snow removal operations.
• Perform regular servicing and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
