Job summary

GENERAL MAINTENANCE ROAD WORKER at Cerro Gordo County in Iowa seeks a dependable individual to perform daily routine maintenance on the secondary road system. CDL with air brake endorsement is required, and some heavy equipment experience is preferred.

You will operate county equipment, perform basic repairs, and support other departments as needed. Shifts are typically 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with potential expanded summer hours and overtime during emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the tools and equipment required to perform the job.

Responsibilities

• Operate any equipment owned by the County as directed.
• Maintain assigned equipment.
• Make minor repairs to equipment not requiring the expertise of a trained mechanic.
• Perform such work for other departments or agencies of the County as may be assigned.
• Work a non-standard workweek due to extreme weather events and other emergencies (including nights and weekends).
• Report road deficiencies to Road Foreman.
• Related duties as assigned.
• Attend schools and seminars as directed.
