Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking Transportation Maintenance Tech I and II to perform routine and moderately complex highway maintenance and equipment operation. The role involves installing signs, conducting traffic control, and maintaining roadways. CDL-A or ability to obtain within 120 days is required along with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• No education required for Tech I; Tech II adds 1 year of related experience.
• Commercial Driver’s License with 'A' endorsement or ability to obtain within 120 days.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, repairing and installing signs, posts and related hardware.
• Assist with traffic control, set up cones and barricades, flag traffic.
• Maintain highways and rights-of-way; perform roadway repairs and guard rail work.
• Move debris and haul materials to job sites; operate light equipment.
• Perform PMI, routine servicing and minor repairs and complete required reports.
