Job summary

State of Ohio in Cambridge, OH, is seeking a Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) to support the safety of roads in Guernsey County. The role is full-time and on-site with an 07:00 AM to 03:30 PM schedule.

The position offers CDL training, potential licensure, and a pathway to growth within the OCSEA/AFSCME framework. Background checks and drug testing are part of the process.

Qualifications

• Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary. Must obtain Class B Commercial Drivers License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction
• Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of basic equipment. Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction.

Responsibilities

• You will serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer
• You will attend training to obtain CDL licensure; if not already a licensed CDL holder.
• You will perform highway maintenance activities; including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
• You will perform snow & ice operations.
