Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Jordan Valley seeks a Transportation Maintenance Specialist to operate equipment and maintain roadways on the Basque maintenance crew. You will perform weather-related duties, minor repairs and vegetation control to keep roads safe.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, highways and structures.
• Assist with weather-related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment.
• Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
• Clear debris and manage roadside vegetation, fences and drainage systems.
• Maintain and repair guardrails, barriers and milepost markers.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks including janitorial work, landscaping and light carpentry.
