Job summary

Spokane County is seeking a Road Maintenance Specialist to keep county roads and rights of way safe. You will operate heavy equipment, perform patching, ditch work, and winter maintenance, and communicate with the public and crews to complete assigned tasks.

This full-time on-site role requires a Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement, Washington flagging certification, First Aid/CPR/AED, and a clean driving record, with licensing requirements to be obtained within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of road maintenance or related heavy equipment experience.
• Must obtain WA Traffic Flagging Certification within 30 days of employment.
• Must maintain First Aid/CPR/AED card during employment.
• Valid WA Driver's License with clean driving record; CDL Class A w/ Tanker Endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Operate maintenance vehicles and heavy equipment as assigned (CDL required).
• Perform road repairs, patching, ditch work, and drainage maintenance.
• Provide winter road care, snow removal, and traffic control duties.
• Maintain equipment and records; assist motorists and the public.
• Communicate with supervisor and crews to coordinate tasks.
