Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking staff to perform daily road surface maintenance and roadside care, ensuring safe, well‑kept roadways. Under supervision, assist in snow and ice operations and winter equipment inspections, with duties including minor equipment service and traffic control.

Requirements include a valid Class A or B CDL with no air brake restriction, tanker endorsement within six months, and at least one year of related maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with no air brake restriction; tanker endorsement required within 6 months of hire.
• Must obtain tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway surface maintenance and roadside maintenance as required.
• Provide traffic control and operate/maintain road maintenance equipment.
• Assist in snow and ice control to keep roadways safe and clear.
• Service minor repairs to operating equipment and inspect winter gear.
