Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks a Roadway Maintenance Technician to support daily and routine road surface maintenance, keeping roadways and roadsides safe and in good repair according to MnDOT standards.
The role includes snow and ice control, equipment inspection, and performing related work as required. Training and equipment operation are integral parts of the job, with opportunities to contribute to safe winter operations.
Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs daily and routine road surface maintenance activities to keep the roadways and roadsides safe and in good repair according to MnDOT standards. An employee in this class assists in the maintenance and operation of snow and ice control to ensure safe and clear roadways, and performs related work as required. A position may not include all the work examples given, nor does the list include all that may be assigned.
A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with no air brake restriction is required at time of application and must obtain tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire. Must obtain valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with no air brake restriction and tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.
AND
One year of experience performing activities in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, commercial landscaping, operating heavy equipment, or farm experience).
OR
Education: Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (of at least 60 semester credits; or 90 quarter credits) will substitute for one year of experience.
