Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Section Supervisor to oversee a district maintenance team and ensure safe driving conditions within a geographic area. You will administer contracted maintenance, inspect road conditions, coordinate emergency responses, manage personnel and equipment, and supervise office activities while reporting to the Area Engineer.

This role requires a high school diploma, at least seven years in roadway maintenance or related work,

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent.
• 7 years roadway maintenance or construction-related work (experience can be full time or prorated).
• Substitutions for minimum qualifications include related college education or technical training.
• Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
• Must have a Commercial Class "A" Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Administers and inspects contracted maintenance activities.
• Handles public complaints.
• Inspects road conditions, work-in-progress and work completed by crews and contractors.
• Plans, coordinates and implements emergency response to inclement weather, flooding, accidents and hazardous material spills.
• Plans, schedules and coordinates work project needs with the Area Engineer and district staff.
• Prepares and monitors the budget.
• Prioritizes and assigns projects to staff; guides planning of personnel/materials/equipment.
• Oversees maintenance section office activities and HR, PR, facilities, inventory and admin matters.
• Oversees operation and maintenance of light and heavy equipment.
• Trains other employees.
