Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation in Lakeview, OR is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist (Limited Duration) to join the Delivery and Operations Division – Region 4. You will operate equipment to maintain roads, perform minor repairs, and assist with emergency cleanup and traffic control after storms and incidents.

This limited duration appointment ends by June 30, 2027, with potential to become permanent.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• OR two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.
• CDL-A with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; pre-employment checks may apply.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy and light equipment to maintain and repair roadways, highways and structures.
• Respond to weather-related emergencies and manage snow removal and related equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance such as janitorial work, landscaping, painting and light carpentry.
• Maintain drainage, fences, barriers, pothole and concrete patching, and related infrastructure.
• Work as part of a team with limited supervision and assist in emergency call-outs.
