Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge of roadway maintenance and construction activities.
• Experience operating highway maintenance equipment and performing preventive maintenance.
• Proficient in safe operation and maintenance of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs and maintenance of state roadways and surrounding rights-of-way.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and highway maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment and tools.
• Follow all applicable safety standards and procedures (VDOT, OSHA, VOSHA).
• Wear and properly utilize required PPE at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Support roadway maintenance and construction activities as assigned.
• Perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Assist with emergency response operations (snow removal, storm response, accidents).
• Participate as an active team member to complete projects and objectives.
• Respond to emergency call-outs, including nights, weekends, holidays, and adverse weather.
